Lower back pain is the most common reason for missed work in the United States. Lower back pain most commonly caused by injury to the muscle or the ligaments. Radiculopathy can occur most often with herniated disc. Symptoms can be weakness of the legs, pain with coughing or bearing down, bladder or bowel control. Risk factors for back pain are being overweight, not getting enough exercise, sitting for long period of time, heavy lifting. Diagnosis with x-ray or MRI scan, further testing may be needed based off exam.
