Rib pain (Costochondritis)


 

There are many causes of rib pain and one of the causes is Costochondritis, pulled muscle(strain/sprain) or spasms, rib fracture, diseases that affect the bones, osteoporosis, inflammation of the lining of the lungs or pleurisy.

Costochondritis is inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone (sternum). It can feel like a heart attack or other heart conditions, difficulty laying on your side during sleep. The pain in the ribs need to be evaluated by a healthcare provider.  Treatment depends on the diagnosis.  In our office we treat Costochondritis with MLS laser that has a great success rate.

What are the treatments for rib pain or Costochondritis?

Here at the Institute of Spinal Disorders we recommend that you treat with the MLS laser.  You can be pain free in as little at 1 treatment or as many as 10.  Then follow with anti-inflammatories.

How do you Diagnose a rib pain?

X-ray, CT scan or MRI as needed.
