Laminectomy

Laminectomy is a surgical procedure performed to treat a condition called spinal stenosis.

Spinal stenosis is a condition that primarily affects elderly patients, and is caused by degenerative changes that result in compression of the nerves. The main purpose of the surgery is to enlarge your spinal canal to relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. Lamina, the back part of the vertebra that covers your spinal canal, is removed during the surgery. Laminectomy is also known as decompression surgery.

Here at the Institute of Spinal Disorders, we provide the latest diagnostics and treatments for every spinal problem. Dr. Myles has expertise in performing laminectomies and many other routine spinal procedures to treat simple disorders to complex spinal conditions.
